Mauritius equals purity. As a remote island, it isn’t subject to wind-blown pollens and contaminants from other rice farming operations. Instead, the fields are fed by fresh, clean rainwater and by mountain streams. We aim to develop a 'Fair deal for farmers' initiative to help them generate enough income to grow rice, despite worldwide farm consolidation and pressure from other cash crops. mighty rice® is grown from seed tenderly planted in non-flooded, rain-fed fields with a minimum of pesticides. The plants thrive in warm, south-east trade winds. After harvest, we don’t burn the stubble but follow zero-tillage practices to increase the organic matter in the soil. All processing and packing is done locally.
